These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of Kalo, an iOS app published by Lumio Studio (“we”, “us”). By downloading or using Kalo, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use Kalo. If you are under the age of majority in your jurisdiction, a parent or guardian must agree to these Terms on your behalf.
Your account
You can use Kalo anonymously. If you invite a peer, you will be asked to sign in via Apple, Google, or email. You are responsible for the activity on your account and for keeping your sign-in method secure.
AI output is an estimate
Kalo uses Google’s Gemini AI (Google Cloud Vertex AI) to identify food and estimate calories and macros from your meal photos, voice clips, and typed descriptions. The output is an estimate — not medical, dietary, or fitness advice. See our Privacy Policy for what data we send to Google and how it’s handled.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Upload content that is illegal, harassing, or infringing.
- Reverse-engineer, scrape, or resell the app or its AI outputs.
- Use Kalo to build a competing dataset or model.
- Abuse peer features (e.g. sending unwanted invites, impersonating others).
Subscriptions
Kalo may offer optional paid subscriptions via Apple StoreKit. Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the renewal date. You can manage and cancel subscriptions in your App Store account settings. Refunds are handled by Apple in accordance with Apple’s policies.
Your content
You retain ownership of the meal photos and entries you create. You grant us a limited license to store, process, and display that content to you and the peers you explicitly invite, strictly to operate the app.
Service availability
Kalo is provided “as is” and may be updated, modified, paused, or discontinued at any time. We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service.
Third-party services
Kalo uses Google’s Gemini AI (via Google Cloud Vertex AI) for nutrition estimation, Firebase (authentication, database, storage, App Check), Adapty (subscription management), and PostHog (anonymous analytics). The full data flow for each is detailed in our Privacy Policy.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Lumio Studio is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising out of your use of Kalo. Our total liability in any 12-month period will not exceed what you paid us in that period (or, if you paid nothing, USD 50).
Termination
You may stop using Kalo at any time and delete your account from in-app settings. We may suspend or terminate your access if you materially violate these Terms.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Türkiye, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Mandatory consumer-protection rights in your country of residence still apply.
Changes to these Terms
If we make material changes we will update the “Last updated” date above. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated Terms.
